THERION Drops New Live Single

Therion Today, symphonic metal legends, Therion, release an absolute highlight from their upcoming live album Con Orquesta, arriving as a physical release on January 30 via Napalm Records. With a stunning live rendition of the epic “Draconian Trilogy”, the Swedish outfit led by mastermind Christofer Johnsson dives deep into the band’s rich discography, reaching back to the release of their landmark 1998 album Vovin.

The Draconian Trilogy consists of three parts – “The Opening”, “Morning Star” and “Black Diamonds” – and was performed as a cohesive, monumental piece during Therion’s sold-out arena show at Mexico City Arena in 2024, in front of 11,000 fans.

Recorded in collaboration with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México, Con Orquesta is a grand celebration of the Therion universe, once again proving why the band remains the undisputed pioneer of symphonic metal. A must-have release for fans and collectors alike.

Christofer Johnsson about Con Orquesta: “In the past, our concept was more like Therion going classical, with the band and the symphonic orchestra meeting on an equal basis. Thus, we did a fully orchestral version of one song and it was divided almost 50/50 between playing Therion songs and classical excerpts being rearranged for band and orchestra. This time, however, I wanted to take a different approach. I invited a renowned conductor and composer from Mexico to reinterpret our songs by adding new arrangements and expanding the originals with the orchestra. They also wrote some new intros and small interludes, making this a truly authentic Mexican interpretation of Therion live with orchestra.”
