Sharon Osbourne Confirms Ozzfest Will "Absolutely" Return in 2027
In a major announcement that has electrified the metal community, Sharon Osbourne has officially confirmed that Ozzfest will return in 2027. Speaking at the MIDEM 2026 conference in Cannes on March 2, Sharon was definitive about the festival's revival, stating, "Yes, absolutely. Yeah, we’re gonna do it."
The news comes six months after the passing of the "Prince of Darkness," Ozzy Osbourne, in July 2025. Sharon revealed that the decision to bring back the brand was something she and Ozzy had discussed at length. "Ozzy and I would talk about it, and he’d say, 'Do you think Ozzfest would work without me?' And I’m, like, 'Yeah, it’s a brand. It will work without you.' And he said, 'We should do it.'"
A New Vision: Mixing Genres and The "Baby Stage"
While Ozzfest was the definitive "summer camp" for heavy metal and hard rock for over two decades, Sharon’s vision for the 2027 iteration involves evolving the brand for a new era.
It definitely sounds like a major shift for a brand built on the "Prince of Darkness," but it's part of Sharon's strategy to turn Ozzfest into a legacy brand that survives beyond its founder.
In her Billboard interview from early 2026, Sharon explained that the "mix of genres" is intended to reflect how Gen Z and modern fans listen to music—moving away from strict "metal only" gatekeeping to include adjacent high-energy genres (likely looking at the success of festivals like Sick New World or Lollapalooza).
In addition to Ozzfest, Sharon is collaborating with Live Nation to launch a classical tour of Black Sabbath's catalog. The project will feature local orchestras in each city performing the band's iconic music, accompanied by state-of-the-art visuals and immersive stage technology.
