Norwegian symphonic black metal veterans Dimmu Borgir have announced a North American tour set for August 2026, bringing fellow extreme metal acts Hypocrisy, Suffocation, and Hulder along for the run.

The 10-date trek will begin on August 7 in New York City and conclude on August 23 in Los Angeles, marking the band’s return to North American stages after several years away. The tour will include stops in cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, and San Francisco.

Hypocrisy and Hulder are scheduled to appear for most of the tour, while Suffocation will join the lineup for the opening two shows in New York and Worcester. Hypocrisy will not perform on those first two dates.

The tour comes in support of Dimmu Borgir’s upcoming studio album Grand Serpent Rising, which is scheduled for release on May 22 via Nuclear Blast. The record marks the band’s first full-length album since 2018’s Eonian and continues their blend of orchestral elements with extreme metal.

Frontman Shagrath described the album as a project that reflects every era of the band’s career, following a lengthy and demanding creative process. Guitarist Silenoz also suggested the title symbolizes renewal and growth, comparing it to the idea of shedding skin and beginning a new chapter.

Dimmu Borgir formed in Norway in 1993 and have remained one of the most prominent acts in symphonic black metal, known for combining traditional black metal with elaborate orchestration and theatrical presentation.

Tickets for the North American tour are scheduled to go on sale April 17.
