The Troops of Doom, the death/thrash metal project led by former Sepultura guitarist Jairo "Tormentor" Guedz, has announced a significant shift in their roster as they prepare for an extensive 2026 European tour.

Guitarist Marcelo Vasco, who has been with the band since its inception five years ago, has amicably departed. The band credited Vasco as a "fundamental" part of building their international presence and musical identity.

Stepping in to handle guitar duties for the upcoming tour is legendary German musician Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik. Blackfire is a towering figure in the thrash metal scene, best known for his definitive work with Sodom (1986–1989, 2018–2026) and Kreator (1989–1996). His addition is expected to bring a new level of intensity to the band's live performances as they strengthen their ties to the European metal community.
2026 Tour and Future Plans

The Troops of Doom are scheduled for a major European run this year, featuring appearances at several prestigious metal festivals, including:

Wacken Open Air (Germany)

Headbangers Open Air (Germany)

Alcatraz (Belgium)

Vagos Metal Fest (Portugal)

Before heading to Europe, the band will perform two high-profile "warm-up" shows in Brazil: the Wacken Warm-Up Party in São Paulo this April and the CDM Fest in May. In addition to touring, the band plans to begin songwriting for their next studio album, which is currently slated for a 2027 release.
