California hard rock and nu-metal band Snot has confirmed that work on their long-awaited new album is continuing, with members reporting that the songwriting process is progressing extremely well.

During a recent update, guitarist Mikey Doling revealed that the band has been actively writing and developing new material and that the creative sessions have been highly productive. According to Doling, the group is pleased with the direction of the songs and believes the material captures the spirit and energy that originally defined Snot’s sound.

The upcoming release will mark the band’s first full-length studio album of new material in decades. Snot’s only studio album, Get Some, was released in 1997 and became a cult favorite within the late-1990s alternative metal and nu-metal scenes. Known for its blend of aggressive riffs, funk-infused grooves, and charismatic vocals from frontman Lynn Strait, the album helped establish the band as one of the more promising acts of the era.

Tragically, the band’s momentum was halted in 1998 when Strait died in a car accident at the age of 30. The loss effectively ended the band’s original run, though surviving members later reunited for tribute performances and special projects honoring their late singer’s legacy.

In recent years, Snot has gradually returned to performing live and reconnecting with fans, leading to renewed interest in new music from the group. Doling stated that the band is focused on making sure the new songs feel authentic to Snot’s identity while still bringing fresh energy to the material.

While a release date has not yet been announced, the band indicated that more updates about recording plans and potential new music could arrive once the songwriting phase is fully completed.

For longtime fans of Get Some, the prospect of a new Snot album represents a significant moment for a band whose original career was cut short but whose influence continues to resonate within heavy music.
