Glenn Danzig to Perform Elvis' Hits
Glenn Danzig will perform a special “Danzig Sings Elvis” show on New Year’s Eve (December 31) at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. The last “Danzig Sings Elvis” concert took place in February 2023 at the historic Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood. Danzig’s full collection of Elvis Presley covers — appropriately titled Danzig Sings Elvis — was released in April 2020 and features tracks such as “Is It So Strange,” “Loving Arms,” and “One Night.”
Speaking to Rolling Stone about why “One Night” resonated with him, Danzig said:
“It’s a great song. There’s a lot of different versions of it that I did while I was in the studio with multiple vocal takes. I did some a little softer, some a little harder. Some in between. The one I decided on is the one I like the best.”
Discussing how the album evolved, he explained:
“What happened was, in between doing it, I’ve been working on a million other things. I’m working on other records. It started out as, ‘I’m gonna do a ‘Danzig Sings Elvis’ EP, maybe four or five songs.’ And eventually, while doing other records, we’d have downtime and I’d turn to Tommy [Victor, guitarist] and say, ‘Let’s do another Elvis track or two.’ He’d say, ‘Okay.’ Eventually it became an album.”
Danzig has revisited Elvis material several times throughout his career, previously covering “Trouble” on 1993’s Thrall-Demonsweatlive EP and recording “Let Yourself Go” for his 2015 covers album Skeletons.
