Behemoth has officially canceled their upcoming performance in Bangalore, India, originally scheduled for March 3 at Phoenix Marketcity. The Polish extreme metal titans announced the decision this Monday, citing a wave of "credible threats" from religious Christian groups that raised serious concerns regarding the band’s physical safety and potential legal repercussions.

In a detailed statement, the band explained that they and their team had faced several weeks of intense pressure from religious factions targeting both the local promoter and government authorities. Despite efforts by the promoter to secure the event, Behemoth determined that they could not be guaranteed protection from physical danger or the risk of arrest and imprisonment. The band emphasized that the cancellation was not the fault of the promoter, who they noted had acted in good faith throughout the planning process.

This latest cancellation follows a similar incident last week in Turkey, where Behemoth’s shows in Istanbul and Ankara were scrapped after being labeled as "satanic propaganda" by religious groups and local authorities. Frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski described the situation as a troubling example of "religious fanaticism" and a growing global trend of censorship attempting to suppress artistic expression.

While Behemoth expressed deep disappointment at being unable to perform for their Indian fans—marking their first planned return to the country since 2016—they stood firm on the principle that creative freedom must remain a fundamental right. The local promoter, SkillBox, has confirmed that all ticket holders will receive automatic refunds.
