New SYMPHONY X Music Is Sounding 'Amazing': 'Our Fans Will Think It Was Worth The Wait', Says MIKE LEPOND

Symphony X's upcoming album is shaping up to impress fans, says bassist Mike LePond.

Symphony X bassist Mike LePond has provided updates on the band's upcoming album, the first since 2015's "Underworld." The band has been writing new music for several years and is getting closer to completing the project. LePond described the new material as "amazing sounding" and confident fans will feel the wait was justified.

LePond explained that the band faces high expectations from their dedicated fan base, which contributes to the meticulous selection process for the album's songs. The band aims to include only tracks that meet their standards of excellence, with no filler content. Additional challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and touring schedules have also delayed progress.

The musical direction of the new album is expected to be a comprehensive reflection of Symphony X's career, incorporating heavier and straightforward elements as well as symphonic and classical influences. LePond mentioned that there will be an epic-length track featuring advanced symphonic technology.

Guitarist and main songwriter Michael Romeo has highlighted the sheer volume of material created over the years and is currently focused on arranging and organizing the songs rather than continuing to write. The band hopes to release the album soon, potentially in the following year, with plans to resume recording after finalizing the compositions.

Recent touring included a North American run supporting Finnish metal band Sonata Arctica in 2025, demonstrating the band's continued activity despite the gap between albums. Both LePond and Romeo emphasized their dedication to delivering a high-quality record that meets their fans' expectations.
