Lion's Share Unveils "Pentagram" Music Video; Announces First Studio Album in 17 Years
Swedish heavy metal stalwarts Lion's Share have officially signaled their return with the premiere of a new music video for the track "Pentagram." The song serves as the lead single and opening track for their upcoming seventh studio album, Inferno, set to be released on March 27, 2026, via Metalville.
A Dark Inspiration
The lyrics for "Pentagram" were born from an unusual real-life encounter involving vocalist Nils Patrik Johansson.
"The song was inspired by a colleague of mine—a quirky guy in his 60s, a huge fan of heavy metal and black metal," Johansson explains. "At some point he decided he was a Satanist. Since he didn't want to keep his Christian first name, he simply flipped the letters around and officially registered a new one. I found the whole thing both dark and hilarious, and wrote a lyric about it."
Setting the "Inferno" Atmosphere
Guitarist Lars Chriss noted that "Pentagram" was the definitive choice to open the new record. "It immediately defines the atmosphere of the album—dark, heavy, and straight to the point," Chriss says. "It sets the listener's mindset from the very first second."
To capture this energy visually, the band collaborated with director Tom Wouda for a gritty, black-and-white performance video. Filmed in an industrial workshop surrounded by heavy machinery and chains, the video evokes a modernized "Painkiller"-era aesthetic that complements the track's sinister tone.
The Long-Awaited Return
Inferno marks a major milestone for Lion's Share, serving as their first full-length studio release since 2009's Dark Hours. Since 2017, the band has operated primarily as a duo consisting of Chriss and Johansson, though the new album features a robust lineup of contributors, including bassist Andy Loos and drummer Fredrik Johansson.
With a history of touring alongside icons like Motörhead, Dio, and Saxon, Lion's Share is preparing to bring their new material to the stage this summer. The band has already been confirmed for Sweden's Alive Festival, taking place July 2–4, 2026, in Borlänge.
