KISS Returns to the Studio: A New Era Dawns

The legendary rockers confirm fresh tunes while teasing a grander vision for the future.

In an electrifying revelation shared with Guitar World, KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer has let slip that the band is not merely resting on their laurels post-tour but is actively recording new music. Thayer cryptically stated, “We did record a great new song that Paul (Stanley) wrote. That’s probably about as much as I can tell you right now.” The essence of KISS has always been about creating an event, and Thayer emphasizes that any new music must resonate with significance. “You don’t make another KISS record just because you’re supposed to make another KISS record,” he declares, hinting at a thoughtful approach to their next sonic chapter.

While the iconic band has wrapped up their End Of The Road World Tour, Thayer insists that the wheels of creativity are still turning. “KISS may have stopped touring, but that doesn’t mean things have stopped happening,” he assures fans, suggesting that the band is far from finished in making waves within the metal landscape.

In a separate interview with Detroit’s 94.7 WCSX, Gene Simmons took a moment to discuss the upcoming performance of the Gene Simmons Band at the USPBL Fall Music Classic on September 20. Simmons, never one to shy away from the spotlight, shared insights on the necessity of permission to hit the stage again with KISS. “You know, KISS was actually sold – the makeup and the tunes and the publishing and all that,” he explained, revealing the partnership with Pophouse, a company set to help launch a slew of new KISS ventures including a motion picture, cartoon shows, and even a theme park.

Simmons, with his signature humor, lamented the inability to perform live without Pophouse’s blessing but reassured fans of the thrill that comes with being on stage. “It’s the most fun I can imagine with my pants on,” he quipped, illustrating the magnetic pull of performing that the band simply cannot resist.

Meanwhile, Alcatrazz is also making waves with the release of their new album, Prior Convictions, which melds nostalgia with fresh sounds. The record features eleven tracks, including the standout instrumental “Transylvanian Requiem” that showcases Joe Stump’s virtuosity, and the high-octane “Stand and Wait Your Turn.” As the heavy metal scene pulses with fresh energy, all eyes are on KISS and Alcatrazz as they prepare to unleash their latest offerings.
