Cold lungs inflate with a burn

Displaced at every turn

Desperate to maintain

Some semblance of dignity

And we all fight wars that can't be seen

Solemnly, and we suffer like the martyrs we are

All I hear is a never-ending plea

Drained and pulled into our own misery

And we've forgotten it seems

Everyone's alone and everyone bleeds

We're haunted by the thoughts more than the toll

Tired of being alone

And the finger you've worn to the bone

Are feeble yet clawing for more

Yet you wish it all away

Like embers burning, a captious voice within

Scarred and frail, breaking through tender skin

And what we already have, we hardly deserve

Yet our hands are outstretched like the beggars we are

And we've forgotten it seems

All I find is flaws in myself and others
