To see beyond was a curse, to feel the pressure mounting

Forcing me to finally come to terms with a wretched soul

It was a simpler time then, leftover scraps of life for a man

Who could not help but fear to grow old

Never enough to fill the hole

Break in all my greed, let flood in voracity, take a new hold

To recapture peace in a cycle of eternal woe

I’ve let contentment fade out beyond my horizons

I’ve seen our humble ways emaciated

So long as we hide in confines and the teachings of the penniless men

I fear that we are doomed, my love, to starve in this shame forever

Offering, a gift, a bribe

All my eyes see is an opportunity to rise
