Our camp was cremated

Our beautiful fur was burned away

Now we go around bare as worms

Looking dumb

Fire made us so elegant.

We're smart in our new hollow skin.

We're unique in the animal kingdom

Fright carved in our heads after

Our first encounter with the fire.

Everytime we see one, we put it down.

When our new skin was sculpted by the flames

We knew that the gods were to blame.

A sacrifice was needed in this dark hour

And these cousin species will suffice for sure.
