At the beginning of times
There were two worlds
One world of burning heat
One other of icy cold
There was no moon or sun
And no stars in the skies
Just the gaping abyss
The great primeval chaos
Then heat and cold met
In the middle of Ginnungagap
And from the drops of the melting ice
A huge mass became alive
Before the gods there were the giants
The oldest creatures that ever breathed
In the land of frost and darkness
They lived being so heartless
There was no earth nor sea
Just the deep icy abyss
Ymir the giant had sprung
And lived in the frosted land
