ACM Lyrics

(A Conversation with Mephistopheles)

Here I lie stupefied contemplating my machinations.

He appears as a wisp no denying this is his home.

It seems I cannot kill what I have created.

Mephistopheles. Man, and Intellect. Intertwined. In this chaotic night.

Serpent like, I eat this fruit. Forbidden for good reason.

And lament my passing. From these heavenly gates.

He holds the keys, to my salvation. My wretched philosophy.

But he turns his back and bars the gates. His sunken face looking at me.

A face masked by death; he knows me all too well.

My mind in fever, he is the manifestation of hell.

Mephistopheles. Man, and Intellect. Intertwined. Will I survive to see the light?

Serpent like, I eat this fruit. Forbidden for good reason.

And lament my passing. From these heavenly gates.

A grim tale of brothers three. Fates set by cruel destiny.

I know it too be; you have some role to play. Manipulate my fate.

Compunction overwhelming me.

A hollowed-out man in a pitiful state. mouth stitched shut so I do not speak his name.

Summoned through human arrogance.

Mephistopheles, you are we. I cry out your true name. Mankind!
