The Lick of Carnivorous Caterpillars Lyrics

A new feeding pattern has been found among caterpillars native to Hawaii

The early Hawaiians must have overlooked these normal looking creatures

But unlike regular caterpillars these consume no leaves or plant matter

Instead they prey on insects

Armor shields and camouflage used for protection

Seductive smells and fangs used when on the offensive

Green ant colonies signal a perfect time to feed

They will devoure the brood

Morning dew begins to drip off the leaves

A new day to feast upon the foolish and brave

Perched on a branch the hunger grows and grows

Soon a life will end

Whispers of a mighty warrior spread through the forest

An enemy like no other this creature is soulless

Rarely will one live to tell the tales of torture

The wounds will never heal

There have been attempts to find these beasts

Raiding the forests entire army's and colonies

Too much time has passed the search party is too late

Metamorphosis has taken place

Morning dew begins to drip off the leaves

A new day to feast upon the foolish and weak

Perched on a branch the hunger grows and grows

Soon blood will be shed

Perched on the branch in their favourite tree

Waiting for fruit flies parasitic wasps and bees

To smite these flying insects just the thought makes them quiver

To strip tender flesh is the lick of carnivorous caterpillars
