I descend these jagged steps of quiet despair

May they lead to pain eternal… or inordinate bliss

There is nothing I could welcome more than… eternity’s kiss

I have never felt this cold before

Lost betwixt the rights and wrongs

Blood drips from a weak and fractured core

Never to soar

Mercy escapes my grasp

Penance, your ask is vast

Mercy, where have you gone?

Penance, to sing your psalm

Reaching far into my soul

Hollowed caverns, ever-deep

You seek some semblance of control

Yet there’s not a trace… I am a ghost

Standing on the crumbling debris

Not a sound for miles around

Look around, what is left from me?

The ash on the ground

Life is cold and merciless

Its’ song engrained within our hearts

There is only one regret

I wish I knew from the start
