The Truth of the Beast Lyrics

Truly there is no one reason

Our feeble mortal condition -

Miserable when considered closely -

Denies humanity any share of guilt,

Grants instinct immunity from judgement.

Sharing a capacity for creativity or destruction -

To plant a seed or salt the earth.

Neurological, psychological demons,

Shaped by external conditions.

“I discovered that all the unhappiness of men

Arises from one single fact -

that they cannot stay quietly in their own chamber”.

We could not stay quietly in our chambers,

Whether by nurture or our nature.

Countless individuals cast salt upon the soil

Seeking to negate innumerable seeds.

It is not simply the fear of death,

But the hideous truth of the beast.

Genomes not so distant to our progenitors

Reptilian ancestry compelling a dearth of empathy.

Charlatans, Parasites, provocateurs, gangsters,

Oligarchs, terrorists, kleptocrats, despots.

Those who would dare to grasp at salt

May tempt in us dire schadenfreude,

Oft exposed through religious fervor.

But choose not to placate with delusions -

Our instincts precede the understanding,

The truth of the beast.
