Close to the railway in a house of cardboard and plastic A young boy is alive with his little sister and best friend Poor and sad in a world that seems beyond repair Scavengers they search for trash under the tyranny of the sun Adult and cruel men come every day at nine p.m. To buy what the little slaves have hoarded throughout the day Nowhere near minimum wage are they paid poor kids They go to sleep every day still starving and with hollow eyes The days are quiet here not unlike the night Except when the train is passing by on the railway It does so now and then every single night and day They are often awoken by the sound of steam and moving steel Plastic metal glass and cardboard Plastic metal glass and cardboard They collect plastic metal glass and cardboard So much plastic metal glass and cardboard And so they search every day from morning until eve For plastic metal glass and cardboard Sometimes if they are lucky they might find something like an old pc It pays more so with a bit of luck the bread will be without mold tonight This is one hell of a lullaby They sort it in stacks all of the trash The plastic metal glass and cardboard And when the stacks are as tall as themselves they can get paid For their plastic metal glass and cardboard Is this all you have Are you hiding anything You know you have to hand over everything Is this really all you’ve found You useless little stumps Take your money and get back to work you scum Plastic metal glass and cardboard Plastic metal glass and cardboard They collect plastic metal glass and cardboard So much plastic metal glass and cardboard Plastic metal glass and cardboard, plastic metal glass and cardboard Plastic metal glass and cardboard, plastic metal glass and cardboard They collect plastic metal glass and cardboard So much plastic metal glass and cardboard One day they search a container filled with trash For plastic metal glass and cardboard They’re not alone, they meet a rat An aggressive little pest who bites the best friends hand This is one hell of a lullaby They get the rat off and kill the critter fast But the blood is flowing from the open wound They hurry home and treat it as well as they can And the best friend goes to bed with a nauseous feeling Is this all you have Are you hiding anything You know you have to hand over everything Is this really all you’ve found You useless little stumps Take your money and get back to work you scum Plastic metal glass and cardboard Plastic metal glass and cardboard They collect plastic metal glass and cardboard So much plastic metal glass and cardboard Plastic metal glass and cardboard, plastic metal glass and cardboard Plastic metal glass and cardboard, plastic metal glass and cardboard They collect plastic metal glass and cardboard So much plastic metal glass and cardboard Morning comes and he does not wake up He must be tired from the struggle yesterday He is warm and cold sobbing quietly They decide to let him stay in bed for the day When they get back home under the afternoon sun With todays plastic metal glass and cardboard He’s still lying there even colder than before Sleeping away his sadness and pain When the men come in the night at nine p.m. For the plastic metal glass and cardboard They also take the poor child along with them And they never saw their best friend again Twenty-four hours later the kids haven’t left their shelter To collect plastic metal glass and cardboard And when the cruel men arrive to collect Their cups are finally spilling over They yell and thrash they destroy the little home All while the poor siblings sit quietly and watch Run away we don’t need your ungratefulness here Be gone stay gone or you will pay with pain And so the two remaining kids took their emptiness and walked Until they reached the cliff just west of the town They watched the sun setting behind the horizon Will they after all this see a happy ending? No The brother took his little sisters hand in his own The sun was gone into the ocean With nothing left to loose and nothing to be gained He threw his little sister into the waves They engulfed her little body and crushed her to death I saved her from this miserable life, he said Then he jumped without any sign of fear and regret With all the things he had seen he was already dead
