Under burning skies

A reminder

Beauty always dies

It hung from a silver chain

With a woman's face inside

Staring back with faded eyes

Hard years took their toll on us

Her eyes no longer see

Of borrowed time

Wanting me to go into that good night

Living out of season

A body firmly in decline

I cursed that symbol of our decay

And flung it to the ground

And it didn't change a thing

Your future's creeping silently

One day it will take everything

Even your dignity

Someone played a trick on us

This deadly flaw

Wasn't meant to fall on the perfect world we trust

Immortal we are

Weighing on my mind

No one visits, no one writes
