When she went walking in the woods

She heard someone call out to her

And then she noticed the man

Who would become her husband

She went away with him

To his home in a cave

He said "Stay for three days"

Instead she stayed three years

She was so far from home

But safe inside the cavern

He said her family would find her

And one day he was proven right

Her Serpent

Husband

And when they found her there

They asked her what she'd done

And when she told them

She saw her husband come

This time he was no man

He was in his true form

She was living with a snake

In a land of plentiful corn

Next time you go in the Wood

Don't listen to the whistles

Every time you hear a sound

Turn and walk away

If a man should call you

Never walk with him

Always ignore the signal

Or a snake be your husband
