Birth of a Pirate Lyrics

After the ambush all crew was dead

But one sailor lived and they brought him to deck

He was a young lad shaking with fear

Pirate captain said: just tie him here!

So he was tied to the mast in the heat,

Bound so tight that he hardly could breathe

The captain had one leg and covered in warts,

And sank the merchant ship in the circle of sharks

The Sun was sinking low over the sea,

The sailor was half-dead upon his feet

No food, no water, just heat and grief,

He was close to fainting, he was so weak.

The air was clear and the sky full of stars,

The waves were soft the silent the night

He stared at the darkness, his ropes are his bed,

Wanting to live but expecting death.

The man with one leg commanded the ship

His men lived in terror; aye, even they did

He feared for his power and his heart full of hate

Grief and blood followed wherever he sailed

But when the Sun rose waking the ship,

He thought they will come but nobody did

The deck was busyand the pirates were loud,

The day slowly passed and he was still bound

It was high noon and a hundred degrees

When someone remembered and cut him free

He collapsed but tried to stand up again

Grabbing the mast with two shaking hands

The man with one leg commanded the ship

His men lived in terror; aye, even they did

He feared for his power and his heart full of hate

Grief and blood followed wherever he sailed

‘That one alive!’ he heard the captain said

‘By Jove, I reckoned that he would be dead!

Give him some drink! Water and rum!

And you! Just get up! There’s work to be done!’

And so it was that he was no more

From the death of a sailor a pirate was born

A pirate he became and a strong one at that,

But the death of his mates he never forget.

The man with one leg commanded the ship

His men lived in terror; aye, even they did

He feared for his power and his heart full of hate

Grief and blood followed wherever he sailed
