How it all started:

Jet Black Stare was formed in 2007 when lead singer Rod Black teamed up with Vancouver's producer/song-writer Jeff Johnson (Faber Drive, Divide the Day, Adelitas Way) Right away Rod and Jeff started writing down songs and ideas, their artistic chemistry was so strong that their efforts were heard by up and coming Producer Gordini; who was working with the world renowned rock band Nickelback at the time.

Rod came up with the band name after a night of writing in his room, when he found himself inspired by a picture that hung on his wall. The photo was of the late Johnny Cash, "His eyes were like a jet black stare, full of strength and wisdom"

After the team starting recording their demos the songs spread into the local music community and was heard by drummer/producer Dan Swinimmer who had been playing for various local bands and was looking for a full time drum position. Soon after picking up their guitarists Flip Freig and Dave Muselman, bassist Scott Whalen was then introduced through mutual friends and added to the mix.
