The Gauntlet Speaks With Ville Valo of HIM About The Upcoming Album 'Venus Doom'

The band spent two months in its native Helsinki, Finland recording with producer Tim Palmer. "It was a mental struggle to get all the shit together. I was going through some rough times. One of my close friends committed suicide. I wrote a song for him called 'The Kiss of Dawn.' I shouldn't have done that. I should have written about birds and ice cream cones and shit like that. But I am Scandinavian and I like to dwell in misery."
The songs on the album are much longer and more intense than previous releases, with some songs lasting 10 minutes and a few others clocking in at 6 a piece. Songs like "Sleepwalking" which starts out with a piano solo. The listener is soon overcome by a shredding guitar from Mikko 'Linde' Lindström. "Our wannabe Zakk Wylde-Sabbath thing. I am very proud of Linde, he is a great guy. He is a man of few words, but of many licks" explained Ville.
'Venus Doom' is expected to be released via Warner Brothers records in early September.
The entire interview will be posted on The Gauntlet soon, so keep checking back.
