Get ready to dive deep into the untamed saga of metal’s legends as their groundbreaking documentary hits the screens.

In a riveting chat on Plus One: A Rock And Roll Podcast, DEF LEPPARD's axe slinger Phil Collen peeled back the curtain on 'Long Live Def Leppard', the band’s inaugural official documentary. Directed by the visionary Jeff Feuerzeig, known for his work on 'The Devil And Daniel Johnston', this film promises to be a wild ride through the annals of rock history.

Collen shared that the project germinated pre-pandemic during their 2019 Las Vegas residency. Feuerzeig was already amassing footage when the world hit pause. 'What he’s captured is mind-blowing,' Collen proclaimed, his enthusiasm palpable. The documentary not only chronicles the band’s ascent but also encapsulates the raw, unfiltered essence that defines DEF LEPPARD.

When the idea of a sprawling 10-episode Netflix series was tossed around, Collen nodded in agreement, yet he cautioned about the pitfalls of overstaying one’s welcome. 'You've gotta be really careful,' he noted, reflecting on the fickle nature of modern attention spans. In a world where viewers flip through content like channels on a TV, he asserts the necessity to 'hold their attention'—a mantra that resonates deeply in the realm of music and film alike.

As for a release date, the details are as elusive as a ghost at a rock show. Collen humorously admitted, 'You probably know more than I do.' While fans eagerly await the next LEPPARD album, they can pencil in an early 2027 release for the documentary, courtesy of Bleecker Street's Crosswalk.

With over 110 million albums sold and a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction under their belts, DEF LEPPARD’s legacy is undeniable. The documentary promises to unveil never-before-seen footage and exclusive access to the members, offering a glimpse into the trials and tribulations that shaped this iconic band. From the harrowing loss of guitarist Steve Clark to drummer Rick Allen’s miraculous journey after a life-altering accident, their story is one of resilience and brotherhood, a true testament to the metal spirit.

So, prepare yourselves, metalheads—'Long Live Def Leppard' is not just a documentary; it’s a celebration of the relentless spirit of rock music, ready to remind us why these legends still reign supreme on stages around the globe.
