Glenn Danzig Unleashes 'Hellmask': A Medieval Nightmare Awaits

By Jason
The Misfits frontman dives deep into horror with a new film adaptation of his own comic.

In a move that screams both ambition and madness, Glenn Danzig is set to direct an adaptation of his medieval horror comic 'Hellmask'. This ambitious project is produced by James Cullen Bressack, known for works like 'Fortress' and 'Survive The Game', and is currently in the casting phase, aiming to begin production this August.

'Hellmask', published under Danzig's own Verotik label, first saw the light of day in the Verotik 30th-anniversary issue released this October. The comic promises a brutal tapestry woven with dark magic, armored warriors, and blood-soaked battle scenes that will send shivers down your spine. It’s a gothic nightmare that follows a violent supernatural tale, perfect for fans of Danzig’s unique brand of horror.

Back in April 2022, Danzig spilled the beans on multiple film projects he’s been laboring over. He revealed plans for a 'Death Rider' sequel titled 'The Vampires' Vengeance', a werewolf biker flick, a martial arts saga, and a follow-up to his film 'Verotika'. Yet, while he toys with various cinematic concepts, Danzig has made it clear that directing is where his heart lies, preferring to stay behind the camera rather than stepping into the spotlight again.

In the ever-challenging world of filmmaking, Danzig has candidly shared the grueling realities of directing. He candidly remarked on the overwhelming workload that comes with the role, stating, 'It’s a lot of work doing a movie... you come home exhausted, just like, 'Wow!'' It's a testament to his dedication that he recognizes the intense collaborative effort required to bring these dark visions to life.

'Death Rider In The House Of Vampires', Danzig’s feature debut, was an inventive blend of classic vampire lore and spaghetti Western flair, featuring a cast that includes Devon Sawa and Danny Trejo. As he prepares to unleash 'Hellmask', fans are left wondering how Danzig will meld his unique vision with the brutal themes of his comic. One thing’s for sure: with Danzig at the helm, expect nothing less than a chaotic masterpiece.
