RED CAIN Provide The Revelation With ‘Kindred: Act I’
With their first full-length album Kindred: Act I, Red Cain dive into a conceptual journey through the primordial depth of the human psyche, surfacing to tell mythological tales of war, love, and transformation. Slavic, Celtic, and Egyptian myths all find a place within the tracks, in a venomous new form – battle hymns, sorrow songs and eldritch chants. These are tracks that the band put their blood and spirit into, and while listener-friendly, also contain a huge variety of layering and elements that require a number of listens to truly explore.
Each song tells a story, and the concept behind the album can be found within the words. Red Cain bring forward elements of the Slavic storytelling tradition here, with Veles, god of war and earth, our patron deity and storytelling patron. The reconciliation of the ancient and the modern, the clash between the two, and the vivid and powerful tales it produces with bonds strengthened in singing age-old songs together.
Musically, Kindred: Act I is a further continuation of the groups debut self-titled EP, and fans will see that while it is still clearly a Red Cain album, there has been a significant progression in both style, songwriting and production. They have kept their raw sound but in a more modern package and the tracks themselves are very different, yet connected to one another through a variety of musical, lyrical and storytelling threads.
For the band; “Kindred: Act I is an ancient Sumerian incantation etched into the fiberglass wall of a derelict star-ship. Who can say what’s inside?”
