Avenged Sevenfold Calls Out Atreyu

Atreyu Feuds aren't just for rappers and former ska band members anymore. Orange County's Avenged Sevenfold called out neighbors Atreyu publicly in U.K.'s rock weekly, Kerrang, with M. Shadows claiming "Atreyu are leading the scene that we want to get out of. They're part of it and we're not. I wouldn't say we are fucking friends." He goes on to accuse Atreyu of ripping off a song intro while band mate The Reverend maintains that there is no rivalry to speak of! The fair, balanced journalists at Kerrang! gave Atreyu a chance to respond in this week's issue. Vocalist Alex Varkatzas was dismissive, saying, "As far as we knew we were on good terms with the guys, having toured with them briefly in the past. We were looking forward to seeing them again on the Warped Tour so we're slightly taken aback by all of this. I guess if you're not down with Atreyu, you can go fuck yourself." Kerrang! took the last word, saying, "We hear ya, buddy." With both bands spending the long hot summer on tour together, anything could happen - this bad blood could dwarf the likes of The Killers vs. The Bravery, 50 Cent vs. The Game, Kelly Osbourne vs. Christina Aquilera and even the classic beef between David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar over fronting Van Halen.

Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold are both headliners on Warped Tour 2005, so they will have plenty of opportunities to hash out their differences. Atreyu kick off Warped Tour with a deluxe re-issue of The Curse, in stores June 28th, which comes with a DVD containing all four Atreyu videos (for "Lip Gloss and Black", "Ain't Love Grand", "Right Side Of The Bed" and "The Crimson" as well as a custom Atreyu mp3 player cover. The band have been home resting up for Warped Tour after spending the first five months of 2005 on their "Thick As Thieves" world tour, hitting North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Japan and Australia.

Look for singer Alex on the cover of the Summer Tour issue of Revolver, which hits the street on July 19th. Atreyu are in great demand on movie soundtracks lately with "You Eclipsed By Me" on The Cave soundtrack, in stores July 12th, and their cover of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name" on the soundtrack of ‘Mr and Mrs. Smith' starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, in stores June 7th.

The latest Atreyu video, "The Crimson" is appearing on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball, Fuse TV's Uranium and MuchMusic in Canada. Atreyu's interview with Julia of Uranium is slated to air in late June.

When Avenged Sevenfold said Atreyu is leading the scene, they couldn't have said it any better - Atreyu has sold a combined total of over 410,000 albums, while Avenged Sevenfold has moved 231,421 to date.
