Oceano reaches the greatness of Metallica, Lamb of God and Led Zeppelin

Oceano From their humble beginnings playing basements and skate parks, Chicago deathcore heavyweights OCEANO have come a long way. In 2009 alone, OCEANO has been praised all across the metal press and become a #1 MySpace band. Finally, after months of buildup and great effort, the band can now add "Billboard-charting act" to their long list of accomplishments.

Released last Tuesday (April 7th), OCEANO's debut album, DEPTHS, sold 2,464 copies nationwide, a highly respectable number for a debut death metal act in 2009. The band's total sales unit figures were enough to catapult them onto Billboard's Hard Music Albums (Core Stores) and Heatseekers charts at numbers 7 and 16 respectively. The band is flanked by an impressive array of artists on the 2 charts. Bands like MASTODON, LAMB OF GOD, METALLICA and even LED ZEPPELIN are among the company that OCEANO is keeping on their chart debut.

Guitarist Andrew Mikhail reflects on his band's great accomplishment:

"Honestly, its a acheivement that I thought would never happen specially for an underground "death" band like ourselves. Nonetheless, it is still very exciting and shocking to see our band name with greats as METALLICA and LED ZEPPELIN."
