Rockbitch - True Innovators Of Performance Metal

ROCKBITCH was one of those bands that was formed in the late nineties and remained very underground despite their live show. The band was banned from performing in several countries and municipalities and even became a favorite subject of Interpol. From 1998 - 2002, Rockbitch was met with resistance from Canadian, Scotish, English, Norwegian and German authorities that blocked the band from performing. It wasn't the public or fans that were afraid of the bands music and live show, it was always the elected officials.

Why did Rockbitch land on Interpols and government officials watchlist? For the simple fact that they were empowered paganistic women who performed heavy metal in the nude while performing sexual acts on each other and the fans.

The band became a household name for their live sex shows and the now infamous "Golden Condom." The Golden Condom was tossed into the crowd during the show and the fan that caught it was taken backstage to partake in sexual fun with the band members.

The band never made it to the U.S. but did get as close as Canada before Canadian officials had them banned from playing as well.

Rockbitch only released a single album, "Motor Driven Bimbo" and was shortly thereafter dropped from its label. The band broke up in 2002 and some of its' members went on to form the rock band Syren. Sadly, Rockbitch and Syren drummer Jo Heeley died just over a month ago following a short battle with breast cancer that spread to her lungs. She is survived by her wife and Syren vocalist Erin Bennett.
