Previous Magrudergrind Interviews

Magrudergrind know how to invoke some deadly circle pits, the band plays a simple and yet ear addicting form of crust grind, that of the likes that only can be done true to form by such a band who knows exactly where it all came from. Magrudergrind have put out countless 7”’s that will be finding their way on one complete collection and have stirred up plenty of talk in the grind underground as they accomplish over and over again the aggressive style that put grindcore on the map. TheGauntlet.com spoke with Avi to discuss the band’s future plans and further releases which never stop coming out, giving you an endless supply of fine grind.

TheGauntlet.com: When did Magrudergrind form?

Avi: In September of 2002.

TheGauntlet.com: What is Magrudergrind?

Avi: Magruder's was the only low income housing sect.5 where we used to jam.

TheGauntlet.com: How did the tour in Europe go?

Avi: The European tour was amazing. We met so many really nice people. Got to meet a shit load of people who we've been in touch with via email for a year or so and it was really nice to see the faces behind the emails. The Bloodshed Grind fest was probably the highlight of the tour. Amazing time and crucial Dutch peanut sauce action going on.

TheGauntlet.com: Are the European crowds more into crust grind than the U.S. crowds?

Avi: Depends what city in the states.

TheGauntlet.com: Has your split with Shitstorm hit shelves yet?

Avi: Not yet, its currently being mastered and will be available in January. We're super stoked on this split.

TheGauntlet.com: What are Magrudergrind's touring plans after the Circle Pit Fest II?

Avi: We playing a few shows on the way down to and the Daytona Fest. After that we're lined up for the AZ metal fest in spring. We're also currently setting up some post Maryland Death Fest dates on the east coast with Yacopsae and Sanitys Dawn. We're planning for June on doing a 3 week Southeast Asian tour, so that should be sweet. After that, we'll see from there.

TheGauntlet.com: "62 Trax of Thrash" comes out on November 26th, does this cover the entire Magrudergrind catalog?

Avi: It covers basically, everything we've put out up till the Robotic Empire split.
ie. the following:
Magrudergrind/Sanitys Dawn split 7” on Regurgitated Semen Records
Magrudergrind/Godstomper split 7” on Nuclear BBQ Party Records/To Live a Lie Records
Magrudergrind/A Warm Gun split 7” on McCarthyism Records/Misfire Records
Magrudergrind “OWNED!!” 7” ep on Punks Before Profits Records
Magrudergrind/Akkolyte split tape on Death, Agony, & Screams Records
Magrudergrind/Vomit Spawn split 7” on Militant Records
Magrudergrind “Religious Baffle” MCD self-released
Magrudergrind “Don’t Support Humanitary Aid that’s Led by the Church” demo/ep self-released

TheGauntlet.com: Are members of Magrudergrind in any other projects?

Avi: Not at the moment.

TheGauntlet.com: Do you guys have another full length in the works?

Avi: We haven’t put out a full length yet, but yes we're going to be writing for our debut full-length which will hopefully be out in May '06, we're still shopping for a label as far as for the full length is concerned.

TheGauntlet.com: That's all on my end, is there anything you would like to add?

Avi: Cheers to all the people we met in Europe!! Eat some fucking pizza and "christ-lawfen" running in a circle! Dave, thanks for the interview!

Prior to Led Zeppelin, a supergroup consisting of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Keith Moon, and Jeff Beck was planned, but contractual red tape killed off the band. Although they recorded a few things during a single day recording session in 1966, "Beck's Bolero" is the only one to have seen the light of day.
