Exmortem Bio

Exmortem   Band Members

Subgenres:

Brandishing a particularly savage brand of twisted Death Metal as their weapon of choice, Denmark's Exmortem blend musical precision with lyrical depravity of the lowest order. After honing their sound over the last decade with slew of small releases on a slew of small labels, Exmortem are now prepared to take the international scene by storm with their world-class Death Metal attack. Exmortem's Wicked World debut, 'Nihilistic Contentment,' was recorded at Antfarm Studios in Denmark by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Mnemic).

Exmortem was founded in 1992 under the moniker Mordor. The first Mordor

demo, "Souls Of Purity" was released in 1993, followed by the debut album of the newly renamed Exmortem, "Labyrinths Of Horror", in June 1995 on Euphonious Records.

In 1997 the Exmortem released "Dejected In Obscurity" on Euphonious, followed by a new demo, "Exmortem Anno 1998" in 1998; two of the tracks from that tape were later released on the "Berserker Legions" split 7" vinyl in 1999.

After these initial stages Exmortem brought two new members into the fold -- vocalist Simon and drummer Reno -- and with them a new demo was recorded in 2000. At the end of 2000, the band entered the studio to record the "Berzerker Legions" album, to be released in May 2001 on Hammerheart Records.

After the release of "Berzerker Legions" Exmortem earned attention from the international metal scene and after having played shows across Europe the band started to work on the next album. This led to a new label, Osmose, which released the fourth album, "Pestilence Empire", in December 2002. Since then the band have toured Europe with Necrophagia and have issued two exclusive vinyl releases: "Killstorms" (ADP) and "Pest Campaign" (Osmose). The 2004 re-release of "Berzerker Legions" on Unique Leader in the US was Exmortem's first release to be widely available in the US.

Exmortem are now the newest signing to Earache's Wicked World imprint, original home of Hate Eternal and Decapitated. Exmortem's Wicked World debut, "Nihilistic Contentment", will see a worldwide release in February 2005.
