The Gauntlet: Destro, The

Destro, The Bio

Destro, The   Band Members

Eric Daughtry - Vocals
Nick Emde - Guitar
Jono Garrett - Drums
Steven Nottingham - Bass

Subgenres:
thrash
death metal

In the endless wake of faceless "whatever you want to call it" core bands, The Destro plows through stereo types and labels with a sound they can call their own. Singer, Eric describes, "We just take all our influences which are everything from classic rock and blues to grind core.........it's a mixture of everything we grew up with, here in Texas." -Guitarist Nick continues-"No fashion, no gimmicks, no fancy haircuts.....just honest music. We cut out all the bulls**t. This band plays music with soul and we are not here to try and fit into a mold."

Formed while in their late teens in August of 2000, the band began gigging in just a couple of months. After performing for a couple of years under another name, The Destro was the name given to the band in 2003 as they were looking for a change. Through hundreds of shows and two E.P s, they perfected their musicianship, tones and musical direction, ignoring trends and the current state of popular music.

The Destro's hard work led to opening Summer Sanitarium show outside of Texas Stadium and official radio-sponsored after shows for Slayer, Hatebreed, Rob Zombie, Korn, System of a Down, and Disturbed. The band has also shared the stage with many diverse acts such as STAIND, TRIVIUM, THREE DAYS GRACE, HURT, UNEARTH, BLEEDING THROUGH, GOD FORBID, ARCH ENEMY, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, NILE, BEHEMOTH, DARKEST HOUR, ALL THAT REMAINS, LIGHT THIS CITY, ANIMOSITY, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, CALIBAN, FULL BLOWN CHAOS, THINE EYES BLEED, CANDIRIA, HATE ETERNAL, THE CROWN, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, VEHEMENCE, HOPESFALL, THE ESOTERIC, MY RUIN, BLEED THE SKY, 40 GRIT, IT DIES TODAY, TAPPING THE VEIN, THE ESOTERIC, LOSA, HEMLOCK, ANKLA and DOPE.

The Destro's sound caught the ears of Trevor Phipps' (Unearth) label Ironclad Records in late 2006 finally giving the band a chance at taking their vision and career to the next level. The band is now ready to unleash their first proper full length cd "As the Coil Unwinds." through Ironclad Recordings with Metal Blade distribution. A huge stepping stone, this disc contains music that defies cliches or limitations left by predecessors. "This is a band determined to make their mark........and this is only the begining."

    Hardcore Annal Sects

Prior to Led Zeppelin, a supergroup consisting of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Keith Moon, and Jeff Beck was planned, but contractual red tape killed off the band. Although they recorded a few things during a single day recording session in 1966, "Beck's Bolero" is the only one to have seen the light of day.
