Hailing from Los Gatos, CA, Dredg has been sharpening their aggro-metal sound since the early 1990s. Comprised of Gavin Hayes (vocals/guitar), Mark Engles (guitar), Drew Roulette (bass) and Dino Campanella (drums), Dredg began performing in clubs before they graduated from high school. Music was a integral part for the members of Dredg; they lived in between the suburbs of San Jose and Santa Cruz and Silicon Valley ruled the communities. Naturally, Dredg flocked to music. In 1997, the band self-released the Orph EP. Two years later, they inked a deal with Interscope and reissued Leitmotif in 2001. A chance to tour Europe with Alien Ant Farm was the ultimate gig. Dredg gained a loyal fanbase around the globe. In fall 2002, their starpower continued to soar thanks to the release of El Cielo.
