Subgenres:

Their lifespan would be short but not the impact or influence this Swedish band would have on the entire extreme music scene. Sure they were youngsters at the time, but this band would help to cultivate the sound that birthed and initially propelled the now-and-forever signature European death metal sound - one that is still viable and as exciting today.

Disbanding in 1989, Nihilist would feature guitarist Alex Hellid (Entombed), drummer Nicke Anderson (The Hellacopters/Entombed), bassist Johnny Hedlund (Unleashed/Entombed) and for each of the band's three demos vocalist L-G Petrov (Entombed/Comecon). These recordings, namely "Premature Autopsy," "Only Shreds Remain," and "Drowned," would in most context became the initial groundwork for early Entombed material - a band that alongside Dismember, Grave and Unleashed coveted the early reign of death metal's legacy. Until now, however, these recordings were hard if not impossible to find - even for the most dedicated collector.

Candlelight Records in cooperation with Threeman Recordings (the label owned and operated by the members of Entombed) presents this critical piece of extreme metal's early history. The recording sees release as Entombed continue to record and further their worldwide success story, most recently completing their first headline stateside tour in many years.
