The Gauntlet: Acacia Strain, The Metal News

THE ACACIA STRAIN gear up for touring, video shoot

Acacia Strain, The New England's purveyors of all things heavy, THE ACACIA STRAIN, has tacked on a three-week run with Soilent Green and Demiricous to the band's itinerary to support the June 13 release of The Dead Walk. Prior to that, the band will provide support for The Red Chord on a handful of dates in select markets. Upon completion of those shows, THE ACACIA STRAIN will meet up with director Dave Brodsky (All That Remains, Bury Your Dead) May 19 in the band's hometown of Springfield, Mass. to shoot footage for the video to "Angry Mob Justice," from The Dead Walk.

"There are so many people today who are afraid to take their own stance. So many people just float through life with no meaning," vocalist Vincent Bennett said about the new album. "They have no opinions of their own, nothing is theirs. Yet at the same time, there are so many people who are so self-righteous, it's sickening. The Dead Walk focuses on that."

Again produced by Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage), who was also responsible for THE ACACIA STRAIN's 2004 album 3750, The Dead Walk features extensive design and artwork from Paul Romano (Mastodon, The Red Chord) alongside the band's bowel-shakingly heavy trademark sound. In the time since the band's last album, The Acacia Strain has dropped its provisional third guitar player, and in turn rotated in Seth Coleman and Kevin Boutot on bass and drums respectively, resulting in a sleeker, albeit more efficient band. "Seth and Kevin are two of the best things that happened to this band," Bennett says. "I honestly wouldn't want anyone else playing in this band. This is the most solid lineup we have ever had and I don't plan on it ever changing."

The Dead Walk will be released through Prosthetic Records on June 13, 2006 in North America and a day earlier in European territories. Exclusive pre-order packages are now available on ProstheticRecords.com for a limited time, while two new tracks, "Angry Mob Justice" and "Whoa! Shut It Down" are available on THE ACACIA STRAIN's MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/TheAcaciaStrain).
