Singer Scott Weiland Formally Charged With DUI
Rocker Scott Weiland has formally been charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction. The Velvet Revolver frontman was arrested on November 21 after an accident on a California highway.
Police claimed Weiland showed "signs of impairment" and failed sobriety tests, and that he refused to take a legally required blood or urine test.
On Wednesday, Los Angeles City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan confirmed the singer now faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Weiland's arraignment in set for Thursday.
The star has previously been convicted of DUI in 2003 and for buying crack cocaine in 1995. He was charged with domestic violence in 2001.
