The Gauntlet: Burzum Metal News

Burzum frontman denied parole

Burzum BURZUM mastermind Varg Vikernes - who is currently serving time for murder at Tromsų Prison in Norway - has been denied parole again.

Vikernes is currently incarcerated because of his 1993 conviction for the murder of his former friend and bandmate Ųystein Aarseth (also known as Euronymous) of the black metal band MAYHEM. Vikernes was additionally found guilty of arson in several cases. He received the maximum sentence in Norway of 21 years in prison, though it has been shortened (as is usually the case in Norway) and lengthened due to his escape attempt. During his time in prison, he has recorded two albums (Dauši Baldrs and Hlišskjįlf). His request for parole was first denied in June 2006.

In summer 2000, Creed frontman Scott Stapp was awarded the first Fatherhood Hall Of Fame Statue by the advocacy group Women For Fatherhood. Stapp's son Jagger inspired the Creed single "With Arms Wide Open," which came from their 1999 album Human Clay.
