Between the Buried and Me blasted their way onto the charts today when The Anatomy Of landed at #151 on the Billboard Top 200 with 6,999 sold - breaking their existing sales debuts for their previous three albums. Between the Buried and Me recorded the new album as a tribute to the rock legends that inspired them growing up, paying homage to legends like Metallica, Pink Floyd, Queen, King Crimson and Smashing Pumpkins on The Anatomy Of. Metal radio taste-makers are raving about the new album, which picked up #2 Most Added at FMQB's Metal Dectector and #3 Most Added at CMJ Loud Rock. Between the Buried and Me are hitting the newsstands in Metal Edge, Decibel, Brave Words, Bloody Knuckles and AMP Magazine.
The band has sold over 160,000 albums including 2005's Alaska, which debuted at #121 on Billboard's Top 200 with 7,653 in sales and was hailed as the "Album of the Year" by FMQB Metal Reporters. Online metal giants Digital Metal raved, "'this album is a breathtaking display of the harsh, the primal, the beautiful and the serene." This summer Between the Buried and Me take their awe-inspiring live show on Ozzfest 2006 this summer, bringing mind bogglingly complex guitar work and creative ingenuity to metal fans everywhere. They will also perform on select dates with Dragonforce during July and August (dates below).
Started in the year 2000, Between the Buried and Me formed as an effort to create music that explored beyond the barriers of their previous hardcore efforts. Their Victory debut, The Silent Circus, was one of hard rock's finest opuses and began to reach prolific, underground cult status. Rave reviews of this album came in by the boatload from publications and websites like Uranium Music who called The Silent Circus, "One of the best albums of the year," and Chord Magazine who said, "'if you like blazing tempo changes, sick guitar work and super speedy drumming, these guys have got the goods." After the success of their follow up album, Alaska, which landed on numerous "Best Of 2005" lists and earned praise from magazines like Revolver, Decibel, Metal Maniacs and Guitar World, Between the Buried and Me covered the North American continent, touring with bands like Bleeding Through, Converge and Darkest Hour.
Between the Buried and Me will be on-stage all summer long redefining aggressive music and pushing the boundaries of musical invention - old fans and new will be intrigued by this compelling album paying tribute to some of the greatest rock songs of our time. "It was a very stressful record for us to make, but it came out very well, and I am excited for people to hear it," Tommy told View Magazine, "We spent so much time just making sure that everything was right. We wanted everything to either be very accurate with the original, or if we put some of our things in it, we wanted it to be exactly how we envisioned it." Between the Buried and Me used their considerable musical chops and reverence for the songs to breathe new life into each track on The Anatomy Of, music fans have spoken, turning out in impressive numbers during the first week of sales.
