The anti-vivisection ad quotes Napalm Death vocalist/activist Barney Greenway as saying, "Vivisection is one of the ultimate acts of disrespect, and conclusions from it are questionable. Time to consign it to the history books." The full-page ad centers around a primate "#99" who "lived in a cage in a laboratory in Vienna, VA. Everyday, workers forced tubes up his nose and down his throat to pump in and test a mysterious experimental substance. It made him sick and weak, and his hair fell out." The ad continues asking readers to, "Join Barney in speaking out against cruel vivisection experiments on primates. #99 couldn't stop the abuse - but you can." The first chance North American readers will have to see the ad is in this month's issue of Decibel Magazine.
Napalm Death's new album, Smear Campaign, is set for release Sept. 19. An extremely vicious sonic assault, the album will be unleashed during the band's North American tour with Hatebreed, The Black Dahlia Murder, Exodus, First Blood and Despised Icon.
