The Gauntlet: Evanescence Metal News

Evanescence's New Album, "The Open Door" from iTunes

Evanescence Since the release of their first album, GRAMMY®-winning Fallen, Evanescence has experienced many challenges. With new management and a new guitarist/songwriter, Terry Balsamo, the band is poised to release their second studio album, The Open Door, chronicling their breakups, a health scare, and varied emotions over the last year. The album, partially recorded in an old, acoustically rich chapel, features Amy Lee's powerful vocals along with a classical choir, string accompaniment, and riveting guitar solos.

Pre-order The Open Door now, and the single "Call Me When You're Sober" will immediately begin to download. In addition, when you pre-order the album, you'll also get the B-side track, "The Last Song I'm Wasting on You."

Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, considered the most important pioneer of heavy metal guitar, achieved his signature slow, heavy sound partially as a result of a factory accident in which the tips of his middle and ring fingers were severed. Iommi fashioned thimble-like prosthetics and relearned the instrument.
