With the year coming to a close, The Gauntlet has contacted some of our favorite bands to recap their year and let us know whats in store for 2011. Dirk from Soilwork has checked in.
Did you have any ‘Spinal Tap’ moments this year?
A few days ago, during a sold out show in Hamburg, our guitar player Sylvain broke a string right before the quiet acoustic ending of “Let This River Flow”. He rushed off to try and change the string, but realized there wasn’t enough time, so he literally stormed back to his pedal board on the opposite side of the stage, just in time to hit this totally chill, four-note arpeggio. It was such a silly sight the rest of us couldn’t help but laugh our asses off, which further contributed to turning the entire song into a total Spinal Tap-style performance.
What were some of your favorite releases from 2010?
Triptykon “Eparistera Daimones”, Autechre “Oversteps”, Devin Townsend Project “Addicted”, Scorn “Refuse;Start Fires”, In-Quest “Made Out Of Negative Matter”, Meshuggah “Alive”, Lyzanxia “Locust”.
