The Gauntlet: As I Lay Dying Metal News

As I Lay Dying posts exclusive behind the scenes video

As I Lay Dying AS I LAY DYING’s brand new video for the first single off their upcoming album AN OCEAN BETWEEN US, entitled “Nothing Left,” debuted on Headbanger’s Ball last weekend. Today the exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the filming of the clip will run on Myspace.com.

The bleak, futuristic video was shot in Van Nuys, California at Sound City Studios with Brian Thompson (Killswitch Engage, Angels & Airwaves) lending his directorial talents. The story, which was conceived by the band and refined as a collaboration between the band and Thompson, follows a female character through a series of events which takes place within a decaying, future landscape.

Upon speaking about the recent filming experience, guitarist Nick Hipa added, ”The concept of our new video is conceptually akin to books like "The Scarlet Letter," while visually it is influenced by the idea of post- apocalyptic dystopian societies as seen in films like "Blade Runner" and "1984." There are dudes with machine guns and gas masks, so already its one of my favorite videos we've ever done.”

England's 1988 Castle Donnington Monsters of Rock festival featured one of the most enticing heavy metal lineups ever — Guns N' Roses, Megadeth, David Lee Roth, Kiss, and headlined by Iron Maiden (the show holds an attendance record of over 100,000).
