URIAH HEEP's MICK BOX To Sit Out Remaining Shows On January/February 2026 Scandinavian Tour

Mick Box will sit out remaining January/February 2026 Scandinavian shows with Sam Wood stepping in on guitar.

British rock band URIAH HEEP announced that founding guitarist Mick Box will not be performing in the remaining concerts of their current Scandinavian tour, as he is recovering from an illness. Sam Wood, known from BLACK STAR RIDERS and WAYWARD SONS, is continuing to substitute for Box on guitar.

The band's members confirmed in a statement that although Box is improving, doctors have advised him to rest further. Fans who have attended recent shows have praised Wood's performances as a worthy representation of Box's style.

URIAH HEEP began the Scandinavian leg of their farewell tour on January 22, 2026, in Tampere, Finland. The band originally announced the farewell tour in September 2024, starting with UK dates in early 2025 and planning to perform globally over the next several years.

Box, who had never missed a URIAH HEEP show since the band's formation in 1969, cited factors such as increased touring difficulties post-Brexit and the pandemic as reasons for the band's retirement from extensive touring. Despite this, the band plans to continue writing, recording, and touring in shorter segments.

The farewell tour will feature a mix of classic hits and newer tracks, maintaining the band's signature sound with elements like the Hammond organ and five-part harmonies. URIAH HEEP has a long career with over 40 million records sold worldwide and continues to engage audiences with their dynamic live performances.
