Rik Emmett, known for his role as guitarist and vocalist of the rock band TRIUMPH, is set to publish his second poetry collection, titled 'Leaning Into It,' on April 7, 2026. The book will be released by ECW Press.
Emmett's extensive music career includes more than a dozen platinum albums with TRIUMPH and over 25 solo projects covering various genres. He has received multiple honors, including inductions into six Halls of Fame and two Walks of Fame, alongside accolades for his guitar work.
'Leaning Into It' was developed during the pandemic years of 2021 and 2022. It comprises five sections that shift from autobiographical storytelling to social commentary, exploring themes such as political power dynamics and personal reflection.
The poetry collection reflects Emmett's critical perspective on contemporary global politics, particularly focusing on issues of authority and power. Despite this, the poems also convey a sense of hope and emphasize the importance of humor and humility.
Prior to this, Emmett published his first poetry book, 'Reinvention,' in 2021, followed by a memoir and additional works, alongside continued musical releases and involvement in education. He currently resides in Burlington, Ontario.
