Too Old for Tampons: Mick Mars
It recently came out that Motley Crue guitarist, Mick Mars, suffers from Ankylosing Spondylitis. This is a disease that has affected his joints and bones. "What it does is it slowly fuses your bones together; Your spine, your ribs. With most people it stops in their 30s, when the disease is still in their lower back. In my case, I have a rare form of the disease that hasn't stopped" stated Mars in a recent interview with Musicradar.
Mick isn't hurting for money anymore and the last few tours, he doesn't seem to be enjoying himself as much. Having seen the Crue recently, he definitely appears to be in pain. There needs to come a point in a musicians life when they hang it up and go out to pasture. I'm not saying he should forever stop playing guitar, but stop playing professionally, at least until you can seek treatment to ease the pain. If fans are going to throw down $75 a ticket, they deserve the best. Motley Crue already has the stage antics of Vince working against them. Going old is unavoidable, going old with dignity is in your hands bud.

SERIOUSLY...taking shots at Mick and Vince. Jason sucks balls! I saw them on Carnival of Sin tour and although Vince struggled(i account this to his time away from such serious touring)Mick hasn't lost ANYTHING. Great guitar player. Best of health Mick.

no where in the article did jason say anything about Micks playing ability. Jason is just pointing out that other forces might be working here keeping Mick playing. The dude is obviously in a great deal of pain.

Its dumb shit like this that makes me lose faith in Gauntlet. i don;t give a fuck how old a musician is, long as they still sound good and still do their part. Meanwhile I do feel bad for Mick here, but he is obviously doing what he enjoys, and it is obviously helping him get through his condition. So I think that whoever comes up with the idea to post news like this should find something else to do with their fucking time.

Playing with Motley Crue is the only thing keeping Mick going. Before the "Carnival of Sins" reunion, Mick was almost dead. he got down to like 80 or 90 pounds or some shit. He still plays great, and the Crue put on a good enough show to take the attention off him. It's funny how shit works sometimes. Metal usually involves the glorification of death, but someone looks the age of death, they shouldn't be up there. Hell....Alice Cooper looked like Skeletor in his 20's and people thought he was the coolest shit ever.

you don't think that bone fusing to your spinal cord is time to hang shit up? That sounds pretty damn serious.

Jason is such a fucking tool. Mick Mars stills has great use of his hands if you'd read the interview. It is his bone that is fusing to his spinal cord.
