The Gauntlet: Stone Sour Metal News

STONE SOUR ANNOUNCES SPECIAL EDITION OF COME WHAT(EVER) MAY

Stone Sour Grammy-nominated rock powerhouse Stone Sour is set to release a special, enhanced edition of their Gold-Certified album Come What(ever) May on Roadrunner Records on June 26. The special edition is jam-packed with extensive bonus material. The audio portion boasts six previously unreleased and unavailable tracks, including an acoustic cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game,” recorded live for a Canadian radio performance earlier this year. The bonus DVD features all four music videos from Come What(ever) May: “30/30-150,” “Through Glass,” “sillyworld” and the band’s latest “Made of Scars.” In addition, the DVD includes a never-before-seen full concert performance. Filmed in October 2006 in Moscow at the RAMP awards, the concert documents Stone Sour’s first and only visit to Russia, a must-have for fans.

“Now before all of you fans get upset about a re-release, (because I know how you are), let me just say that I am an avid music fan and a record collector. That's why, when the decision was made to release a special edition, we knew that it had to be just that: special,” says guitarist Josh Rand. “We added everything we could possibly get our hands on, including an entire show from Russia, making it only the greatest special edition ever! You guys are gonna love it!”

Officially RIAA Gold-certified and showing no signs of slowing down, Come What(ever) May has achieved immense success since its 2006 release. The album debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200. “30/30-150” was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Metal Performance. The hit single “Through Glass” reached #1 at Active and Mainstream Rock radio, #2 at Alternative Radio with 22 weeks in the Top 10, #12 at Hot A/C. It was the #1 video on MTV2’s T-Minus Rock Countdown, ranking it among the most played videos in 2006. The politically charged “sillyworld” turned heads with its video assault on corporate America, was top 5 at Active and Mainstream rock and top 20 at Alternative Radio. The current single, “Made of Scars” was #3 most added the week before add date, and debuted at # 34 with a bullet on Active Rock charts this week. Filmed last month, its video captures the band playing to a sold out crowd at the height of their U.S. tour, encapsulating a raw, vicious energy reminiscent of Rollins Band and Faith No More.

“I love impromptu. I love extemporaneous. I love spontaneous,” the band’s enigmatic frontman Corey Taylor says in Revolver’s current cover story. “With [Stone Sour] I can be myself and just do my thing, which is why I f***ing love it.”

Stone Sour is at the top of their game live, blowing audiences away around the globe. They wrapped up a sold-out U.S. headline tour in their hometown of Des Moines on May 4th and are currently touring Australia, with Japan and Europe to follow. The band plans to tour the States again in August. Please visit www.stonesour.com for the latest tour information.

Stone Sour is Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Josh Rand, Shawn Economaki and Roy Mayorga.
