ATREYU goes for rock approach on latest record

As Atreyu tears across the nation on one of the year's hottest conecrt events, Taste Of Chaos 2006, the group showcases several all-new tracks from their forthcoming Victory record entitled "A Death-grip On Yesterday."
The new album, Scheduled for release on March 28th, finds the band pointed in a much more accessible musical direction than on their 2004 effort "The Curse." Although the record's slick hooks are still tempered with a hardcore metal edge, songs like "Shameful" and "The Theft" remain predominately focused on melody as apposed to aggression.
This past Valentine's Day, the group released a taste of the new music, making "Ex's And Oh's", the band's poppish new single available for download via the official Victory Records website.
A maturity is evident in the songwriting of the Orange County-based outfit, with many song structures further delving into the heavy7 metal of the eighties that the group is known to have an affinity for. Mosh maniacs will still have plenty to be excited about as songs like "Private War" rely on meaty riffing and abrasive vocalizations that offer a glimpse of the sheer ferocity the group is known to deliver.
