The Gauntlet: Rage Against The Machine Metal News

Rage Against The Machine Plan Politically-Charged Show In Minneapolis

Zack De La Rocha Rockers Rage Against The Machine are planning another major politically-charged concert by scheduling a Minneapolis, Minnesota gig during the same week as the Republican National Convention. The group will play at the Target Center on September 3, just 10 miles from the convention in St. Paul.

The last time the band performed in the same city as a major political event police had to use tear gas and pepper spray to calm fired up fans - that was in 2000 when the band played Los Angeles during the Democratic National Convention.

Meanwhile, Rage guitarist Tom Morello will get even closer to the political action next month - he'll perform as part of a protest rally outside the 2008 Republican National Convention on September 1.

$60 a ticket? I wouldn't pay 10 to see them. It's crap...better yet it's political crap. If they wanna make an impact do a free show dumbasses. And even to the idiots paying $60 for a ticket, what kind of message are you sending? That you're good enough to hear the message cuz u got money. I'm no republican, but I feel like doing a free concert to protest this crap...and the RNC in the right way.

This is actually a really good idea but if the band really wants to make a statement then they need to give the gate away. I read they're gonna be charging $60.oo so they're only gonna be preaching to the converted. A free show will draw more than just fans to their cause...the people they should be preaching to.
