Immortal Bird Announces Tour
Chicagoan blackened death thrash metallers, IMMORTAL BIRD, will be hitting the road for a 10-city U.S. tour. The Akrasia In The East Tour 2014 will begin February 28th in Columbus, Ohio and hit various municipalities throughout Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut before coming to a ceremonial close in Cleveland, Ohio on March 9th. The band will be touring in support of their scathing Akrasia EP, released late last year via Closed Casket Recordings.Relays vocalist/drummer Rae Amitay: "I'm really looking forward to taking IMMORTAL BIRD and Akrasia out on the road. By the time March rolls around, Akrasia will have been out for almost three months, so it seems like the perfect time to get out there and perform in some uncharted territory. We also have some new material that we can't wait to play! The Akrasia In The East Tour is hopefully the first of many treks we'll be taking together as a band."

Recorded at Lo-Tech Laboratories this past Summer by unsung Windy City soundsage Jeff Ziolo, mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Isis, High On Fire, Skeletonwitch) at Godcity Studio, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails, All Pigs Must Die) at Audiosiege, Akrasia parades four hymnals of elegantly consuming grimness and psychosomatic anguish led by the sadistic vocal tirades of Rae Amitay (Thrawsunblat). Dubbed "dark and twisting," by Decibel and commended for its "inward-looking cosmopolitan ugliness that sometimes evokes a less-patient version of early Castevet," by Invisible Oranges, the brief but punishing underground gem continues to reap critical fuck-yeahs from metal critics in-the-know.
IMMORTAL BIRD took its diseased form when Amitay yearned to step out from behind the confines of her drum kit, write some riffs and shriek. With those dreams in tow, she enlisted the help of longtime friend/guitarist Evan Berry (Wilderun, Replacire) and bassist John Picillo. With Amitay opting to handle the mic onstage (while tackling drums and vocals on their albums), Garry Naples (Novembers Doom, Kastasyde, Without Waves) was recruited to take on all live drumming duties.
